Scared Your Dam Won't Hold? Build It Once.

Some blokes dig a hole, walk off, and leave your land scarred and the water gone by summer. We build with a proper clay core so it holds for good.

Step 1 of 3
What We Do

We don't just move dirt. We shape land that holds water for a lifetime.

A dam is not a hole in the ground. It is a piece of engineering you cannot see once it fills. The clay core, the compaction, the way the wall meets the fall of the land, all of it hidden under still water. Get it wrong and it leaks quietly for years. Get it right and your grandkids swim in it.

The dream

Your property deserves a dam that stays full through a dry February. Water that reflects the sky in the morning and never worries you again. We read the contours before a single blade touches the soil, so the water sits where the land wants to hold it, not where a machine happened to stop.

The landmark

Done properly, a dam becomes the heart of a place. Cattle drink from it, kids grow up around it, the light hits it at dusk. In a year the banks green over and it looks like nature carved it. That is the mark we leave. Land that feels like it was always meant to be this way.

How We Work

We Work With Your Land, Not Against It

A careless operator fights the fall, forgets the clay, and blames the weather when it leaks. We follow the natural contours and use the right soil so it holds.

STEP 01

Read The Land

We walk your property first. Check the fall, test the soil, find where the water wants to sit. No guessing, no digging blind, no wrecking ground we don't need to touch.

STEP 02

Build It Right

Proper clay core, compacted in layers, keyed into solid ground. We use the right material for your soil instead of forcing it. Done once, done for good.

STEP 03

Looks Like It Belongs

We shape the banks and blend the spoil so nothing looks scarred. Give it a season and it looks like the land was always meant to hold water here.

Common Questions

The Stuff You're Wondering About

How do I know my dam won't leak?

That's the fear, and fair enough. Most leaks come from no proper clay core or bad compaction. We test your soil first, build the core in layers, and key it into solid ground. If your soil won't hold, we tell you straight before you spend a cent.

Will you wreck my land getting the machines in?

No. We plan access before we start and stick to the ground we need to touch. When we leave, the spoil is shaped and the banks are blended. You get a dam, not a scar across your paddock.

Why are some quotes so much cheaper?

Cheap usually means a hole dug fast with no real clay core, and the bloke gone before it fails by summer. Our price is fixed and honest up front. You pay once for something that holds, not twice for something that doesn't.

What areas do you cover?

We're based on the Bass Coast and cover South Gippsland. Cowes, San Remo, Inverloch, Wonthaggi and roughly 60km around. If you're near that, give us a call and we'll come have a look.

Shannon Jarman
About Us

Hey, I'm Shannon

I run Island Earthworks here on the Bass Coast. I've seen too many people burnt by a bloke who dug a hole, took the cash, and left them with a leaking dam and a churned-up paddock. That's not how I work.

I build dams and do earthworks the way I'd want them done on my own land. I read the fall, I use a proper clay core, and I don't leave until it looks like it belongs there. If it won't hold, I'll tell you before we start.

Give me a call and I'll come out, walk your property, and give you a straight price. No pressure, no sales talk, just an honest look at what your land needs.
